The gap between domestic fabrics and imported fabrics

China's clothing imports of fabrics are mainly chemical fiber products, accounting for 60%-70% of the total number of imported fabrics. According to 14 typical garment enterprises using fabric statistics, cotton, wool, silk and its mixed fiber garment fabrics in 70%-85% for domestic fabrics, hemp and hemp blended garment fabrics in 98% for domestic fabrics. In recent years, with the development of China's chemical fiber technology, the import of chemical fiber fabrics declined year by year, but in 2005, the proportion of imported pure chemical fiber fabrics is still as high as 67.69%. Among them, pure polyester filament imported fabrics accounted for 40%-45%, mostly ultra-fine denier products, the rest are blended or interwoven chemical fiber fabrics.

The main reason for garment enterprises to choose imported fabrics is the appearance of domestic chemical fiber fabrics style, feel performance, defects, drapability (formability), color of the five aspects of poor quality. Survey and analysis of data show that the main body of imported high and medium-grade chemical fiber fabrics for polyester differential filament fabrics, a small number of other new chemical fiber fabrics and their blended fabrics, mainly from South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan and other countries or regions. It can be seen that the quality of domestic chemical fiber fabrics and the international advanced level still has a large gap.
