Take a look at antibacterial fabrics

Summer is here, and the season of easy to sweat, especially at the end of June after Jiangnan into the "plum rainy season", it is like steaming sauna. The clothes on your body are soaked with sweat, and the crowded places are full of sweat odor; the clothes hanging on the balcony are not yet dry, and even faintly emit a rancid smell. ------ These are mostly microorganisms in the clothing moisture environment caused by reproduction, and you may need to know about "antibacterial fabrics".

What is "antibacterial fabric"?

Antimicrobial fabric (Antimicrobial Fabric) is a functional fabric with antimicrobial finishing or fiber containing antimicrobial material, which can inhibit the growth, reproduction or inactivity of bacteria and fungi on the fabric. In short, "sterilization, antibacterial".

Absorption method.

When the calculated value of inhibition rate >99%, it is expressed as ">99%". When the inhibition value ≥ 1 or inhibition rate ≥ 90%, it has antibacterial effect.

Oscillation method.

The inhibition rate of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli ≥ 70%, or the inhibition rate of Candida albicans ≥ 60%, with antibacterial effect.

The antibacterial performance of the fabric is evaluated in the following table.

Fabric antibacterial treatment methods commonly used fabric antibacterial treatment methods are mainly: modified fiber method and finishing method. Of course, there are some fibers with their own antibacterial properties, such as hanker fiber, its fiber hollow, excellent moisture conductivity destroys the environment for bacterial growth, and its content of cannabidiol, tetrahydrocannabinol and other components are excellent natural antibacterial agents.

Modified fiber method modified fiber is spun at the time of the nano antibacterial agent and yarn blending, so that the resulting yarn has excellent antibacterial properties. The advantage is that the nano-powder is uniformly dispersed inside the fiber, so the durability is good, and the antibacterial effect can be stable, with washing resistance, long-lasting and other characteristics. These antibacterial agents are mainly inorganic antibacterial agents, such as silver ions, nano-silver, nano-titanium dioxide, etc.

Finishing method is to use antibacterial finishing agent to impregnate / dip rolling or coating method of finished fiber, fabric finishing, simple operation, and other functional finishing agent together with the treatment.

Antibacterial finishing agents can be divided into organic, inorganic and natural.

Early antimicrobial agents are basically organic series, mostly containing nitrogen, sulfur, chlorine and other elements of the compound, its main varieties are: quaternary ammonium salts, biguanides, alcohols, phenols, aldehydes, organometallics, arsenic, thiophene, etc.. The antimicrobial agent short-term bactericidal effect is good, but most of them have poor heat resistance stability, short life and other shortcomings.

Inorganic antimicrobial agents are representative of nano zinc oxide, nano titanium dioxide, nano silver, silver ion antimicrobial agents, natural fibers can only take the post-finishing approach because they can not add functional materials in the production process.

Natural antimicrobial agents, extracted from animals are mainly chitin, chitosan, etc., extracted from plants are mainly hinoki oil, Artemisia oil, sorbic acid, licorice, tea polyphenols, etc., there are also antimicrobial agents extracted from minerals. In the natural antimicrobial agent more widely used for chitosan, chitosan mainly from crab shells, shrimp shells, shells and the outer skin of insects and the cell wall of fungi and enzymes, its resources are abundant and biodegradable.

How to choose antibacterial fabrics

For the purchase of antibacterial products, we have to look at the antibacterial grade, antibacterial performance and characteristics of the products stated in their labels.

Different processes and different antimicrobial finishing agents treated fabrics may vary greatly in price, we compare the purchase, do not be fooled by the business exaggerated publicity.
